Title: “A Cold and Lonely Corner of Hell”
Synopsis: Legionnaires marooned on an icy asteroid wonder if rescue will come before supplies – and hope – run out!

Writer: Paul Levitz
Penciler: Keith Giffen
Inker: Bruce Patterson

This lead feature offers rich characterization – the kind that would become a hallmark of writer Paul Levitz’s work on LoSH. Legionnaires trapped on an asteroid and the teammates searching for them all get well-executed character moments. Art wise, Bruce Patterson grows more comfortable with Keith Giffen’s pencils each issue.

Title: “Once Upon an Insanity”
Synopsis: Brainiac 5’s efforts to cure Matter-Eater Lad are interrupted by a psycho psycho-medic hellbent on revenge!

Writer: Paul Levitz
Penciler: Carmine Infantino
Inker: Larry Mahlstedt

This backup is a silly as the lead story is strong. Where does that deus-ex-machina flower come from?

Grade (for the entire issue): B+

Cool factor: The lead feature :- )
Not-so-cool factor: The backup feature :- (

Second opinion: Recommended by The Slings & Arrows Comic Guide (second edition).
